Come see what’s blooming at ICS!

Please join us at The Pyle Center in Madison on April 22, 2014, 3:00 – 6:00 PM, for an introduction to our bouquet of innovative media services: distance learning, virtual conferences, media production studios, flipped classrooms, hybrid and mobile learning, and more! We will introduce you to our new collaborative, hybrid learning spaces in The Pyle Center as well as show off other rejuvenated spaces.

There will be live music, food, fun, prizes and a great learning opportunity.

AaronBrowerWe’re excited to have UW-Extension / UW Colleges Interim Chancellor Aaron Brower will talk about his perspectives on “Educational Innovations in Hybrid Classroom Learning.”

Prior to joining UW-Extension, Dr. Brower was the vice provost for teaching and learning and a professor in the School of Social Work, Integrated Liberal Studies, and Educational Leadership and Policy Analysis at the University of Wisconsin-Madison.

His expertise is in educational innovations, student learning and outcome assessment – engaging the whole university on issues important to students and the people of Wisconsin. He has created and led many teaching and learning programs focused on integrative learning and evidence-based curricular reform, with an emphasis on high-impact learning practices.

209: Visit the newly re-imagined computer lab. See how we’re changing it from a static lab to a collaborative learning environment

214: See our professional video recording studio. You’ll be able to try out the studio and record your own video which will delivered to your email inbox. Lights! Cameras! Action!

235: High quality video, HD monitors, tiered seating, and loads of presenter tools await you in our 55-seat distance learning classroom.

Have you heard about our new flipped classrooms? Designed for distance learning, professional development and more, our learner-centered spaces incorporate cutting-edge pedagogical concepts and technologies. Take a tour.310: See one of our small collaborative distance learning rooms. It’s been recently fitted with a custom board-style conference table, laptops, cameras and HD monitors. It’s perfect for smaller on-site meetings and at-a-distance collaboration with videoconferencing or webconferencing. See our WebEx web conferencing in action.

312: Excuse our dust in this room. It is soon to become a new flipped-concept classroom. Take a look at a work-in-progress.

314: This collaborative learning space has it all. Easily conduct meetings and classes using video, web or audio. Experience a live video conference and learn more about our desktop and mobile video applications.

315: Flipped-Concept Room: You’ve probably heard about flipped classrooms. Now you can visit our brand new flipped-concept space and learn more about how a flipped design can enhance teaching and learning. This room has been completely over-hauled from the floor up to provide the latest in collaborative technologies and flexible learning spaces. Included is a one-to-one iPad learning lab, 47″ LCD monitors at each of three modular tables, and integrated distance learning technologies.

L27: Here’s another space that’s been completely re-imagined and re-designed. Our new Media Production Suite makes it easy for you to record your own multi-media presentations, lecture captures and more. Designed as a self-help space, the studios are equipped with everything you’ll need to record to YouTube or other online sharing applications. Take a look and give it a try.

4 – 4:45 pm:

4 – 6 pm:  Enjoy hors d’oeuvres, Cash bar & Light Music (That Sax Guy) with us in the Alumni Lounge.

5:45 pm:    Announce prize winners in Alumni Lounge. We will announce the winners of our door prize drawings. All you have to do to enter is visit each of our open rooms and get your card checked. You don’t have to be present to win, but wouldn’t it be be nice to leave The Pyle Center with a $500.00 gift certificate good for any media services in The Pyle Center?

6 pm:         All good things must come to an end.
